More... 22 April 07 - Senior Cup Final (The one that Ridley wanted)After 10 years of success for the club there was one trophy that still eluded the current crop of players, the Senior Cup. We had not experienced much luck in previous seasons with defeats in semi finals (our only ever defeat by Carleton and a linesman allowing Kirkby Lonsdale to re-take 2 pens they had already missed) but after an indifferent season on the pitch for the first team and the disappointment of seeing both the Reserves and A team narrowly miss out in semi finals the club was totally focused on winning this trophy. More... 18 June 2006 - In The Beginning...The club was formed when a group of schoolboys from Wetheriggs Rise in Penrith decided to raise their own football team in order to play matches in 1963 - 64. Their first, a friendly game, was against a Keswick XI organised by Ross Brewster, who later became a journalist with the local newspaper, Cumberland and Westmorland Herald and who then went on to write a regular column in the Carlisle United match programme. The ball for the game was bought by an Uncle and Grandma of one of the players, Peter Brookes, but unfortunately due to players jubilation at winning this first game everyone forgot about the ball which was subsequently lost. More... 06 March 2006 - The Lancaster TripLancaster was a very quiet place until 26 good looking lads (and Kieran) descended upon the pubs. On the way down, to help pay for the bus Andy Rids and Bob Norman did a scratch card with the winner netting £50, the lucky recipient of the win was Phil - Always Wins - Jackson. More... |
